绝缘轨距拉杆是用一根杆件在轨底将两根钢轨连接起来，以提高钢轨的横向稳定性，提高轨道保持轨距的能力。有些线路有轨道电路，轨距拉杆当中用绝缘零件隔开。

该轨距拉杆较现有的轨距杆节约原材料及加工成本。可广泛采用于各种轨距的轨道电路区段。

绝缘轨距拉杆主要由铁卡、紧固件及两根杆体等组成，两杆体端部由接头连接，接头内设有绝缘套，绝缘套外为外套，两杆体端部及外套内孔均设有相互配合的连接结构，所述的连接结构为螺纹或至少1条间隔的槽，外套为整体式或分体式，杆体外圆与外套的内外圆除连接结构外均无台阶。
